The Elite community is coming together to solve a mystery after the discovery of a strange unknown artefact that certainly comes across as being potentially alien (there's a YouTube video here showing it in the game).
Players decided to band together and hunt down the artefacts after Frontier hinted at their presence in the game, and now that one has been found, players are analysing it to see what can be uncovered after producer Michael Brookes told players to "listen" to it.
The smart money is on it being something to do with the Thargoids, an insectoid species that long-time fans of the sci-fi series will remember from previous games. On top of that, their presence was mentioned way back in 2013 when Brookes PC Gamer.
