It's a debate we all have taken part in, time and time again. Which games are the most important of all time? Posting the question gets you different answers depending on who you ask, but that's not good enough for the International Center for the History of Electronic Games.
They simply must know which games are the most legendary of all, and therefore they have started the process to create a new World Video Game Hall of Fame.
The purpose of the hall is to create a selection of games that truly represent the medium, and the first 15 nominees (selected from thousands of public nominations by a committee) are as follows:
• Angry Birds
• DOOM
• FIFA
• The Legend of Zelda
• Minecraft
• The Oregon Trail
• Pac-Man
• Pokémon
• Pong
• The Sims
• Sonic the Hedgehog
• Space Invaders
• Super Mario Bros.
• Tetris
• World of Warcraft
Right off the bat we notice that major series like Grand Theft Auto, Half-Life and Call of Duty are missing, but we suppose these will be included with later nominations. For now you can vote on your own favourite here.
Cheers, Ars Technica.
