Silconera has dug up a new patent application from Nintendo, this time for a longer version of the current Nintendo DS cartridges. The technical illustrations show a cartridge sticking out of a DS Lite, but the patent application states that "the broken lines showing of an electronic game machine is for illustrative purposes only." The new cartridge does have the same amount of pins as a normal DS cartridge, so it's hardly certain that it means that a new version of the Nintendo DS is in the works.
Or does it? Didn't we see a rumble patent for hand held consoles coming from Nintendo just the other week? Either way, it's fun to speculate.
