Square Enix are teasing a new game from one of their Western studios via a three-day Twitch broadcast, it works like a game and viewers vote on various decisions. Now the cat is out of the bag as a Russian website has revealed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (and GameInformer who obviously had the exclusive story moved quickly to online their cover story - thus confirming its validity). The game is in development at Eidos Montreal and coming out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A release date will be announced at a later date.
In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided the future society was divided into castes of augmented and ordinary people. Protagonist is once again Adam Jensen and events taking place in three locations spread out over the world and one of these is Prague. The story is still a secret, but save games won't be transferable so there are no consequences for decisions made in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. But there will be a lot of new decisions naturally.
Quote from GameInformer's cover story teaser:
"Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, Adam Jensen returns and joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans. Jensen has a new suite of augmentations that allow him to cleverly navigate stealth, combat, and social interactions, but how Jensen chooses to solve every problem is entirely up to you.
At the end of Human Revolution, the Illuminati caused every transhuman to go into a fight-or-flight response and attack anyone near them. In the next issue of Game Informer, you can find out how this event caused humanity to hate and fear those with augmentations. We spent two days in Eidos-Montreal's studio, talking with the team and learning about how they build a realistic future. We go in depth on some of Jensen's new augmentations that help improve the stealth and combat systems, such as the ability to remote hack electronic objects, fire off his nano blade from a distance, and surround himself with a nearly indestructible nanoshield. We also got some great examples on how the game will be as open ended as ever, allowing players to carve their own path through the world."
We can play quite or we try the direct confrontation. The artificial intelligence is said to be better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution and so the game should be more difficult. Enemies walk around in groups and if they suspect something they explore dark corners. If we attack, opponents try to flank us. But we've got more tricks as well. Adam Jensen can not only see enemies through walls, but can also scan them for electronics and ammunition. You will be able to hack turrets and computers from a distance.
More details will emerge probably tomorrow, when Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be revealed officially for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Here are the first screenshots and artworks:
