During the last financial quarter (ending on December 31) the Game & Network Services division of Sony pulled in a huge 531.5bn yen / £2.9bn, making it the most profitable part of the Japanese company's portfolio.
Of course a large part of that success has to be attributed to the huge popularity of PlayStation 4, which sold 6.4 million units during the three-month period in question (that's up from 4.5 million the previous year).
Sony recently announced that the console had sold more than 20 million units, which is no doubt helping as PS3 hardware and software sales continue to fall.
PS Vita and PS TV are both struggling, and while the company predicts console sales of 17.5 million for the year, they only reckon they'll shift 3.5 million handhelds before the end of March.
That blow should be eased by the news of a "significant" increase in revenue from PS Plus, and beneficial exchange rates. Last year they lost money through Sony Online Entertainment, but this year the studio was sold which should ease matters somewhat.
Sony will still make an overall loss (their sixth in the last seven years), but considering the wider picture, this year's financials are much improved. If you want to pick through the numbers for yourselves, head this way for more facts and figures than you can shake a stick at.
