As expected, Playtonic, the studio formed by six former Rare talents who worked on Banjo-Kazooie, shared some more details on its 'spiritual successor' codenamed Project Ukulele during last weekend's EGX Rezzed.
Main point of interest for fans to discuss is of course first two in-engine screenshots, which you can see below:

Art style and environment design resembles both Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country for obvious reasons. Gameplay-wise, while Project Ukulele is being developed as a pure 3D platformer, the game intends to be, the first of a multi-genre franchise, each sequel based on different characters and offering a unique experience on the same tropical universe.
With no publisher-deal announced so far, Project Ukulele will have a Kickstarter campaign, and that will help determine whether Wii U (as the most fitting/mentioned system) and/or other consoles join PC as game platforms.
