Blizzard Entertainment have confirmed that this year's BlizzCon will once again be hosted by Anaheim Convention Center in southern California (not far from Blizzard's HQ in Irvine). The show has routinely sold out since its inception in 2005 so if you're planning on going you will want to be alert when the tickets go on sale in two batches on April 16 and 18 (3 am BST on Thursday, 16 April, and the second batch goes on sale at 6 pm BST on Saturday, 18 April). Tickets will set you back $199 + applicable taxes.
"There's no better way to connect with the ever-expanding Blizzard community than by bringing everyone together at BlizzCon," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "With more games in development than ever before, we'll have plenty of exciting updates to share and lots of great eSports competition to look forward to-we can't wait to see everyone there."
Naturally details are still a bit scarce on exactly what kind of events Blizzard have planned but here's the first vague bullet points.
- Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
- Global Finals for Blizzard eSports, including the StarCraft II World Championship Series and Hearthstone World Championship
- In-depth discussion panels with Blizzard game developers and artists
- Community contests with great prizes
- Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard's game universes
- More activities and attractions to be announced
