Kuro Tsunoda has just expanded his position at Microsoft beyond his previous role of heading up Kinect.

After taking part in the development of the new augmented reality HoloLens glasses, Tsunoda will now lead several studios directly related to Xbox One.

He will be responsible for Rare (Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie), Lionhead Studios (Fable), and other minor teams such as Press Play and Twisted Pixel. Likewise, Tsunoda will supervise studios developing games such as Scalebound, Quantum Break and Crackdown.

The news just came via the official Xbox channel on YouTube, during a video announcement in which Tsunoda explained the following regarding lessons learned with Kinect, and his future plans:

"One of the things I definitely took away from working with Kinect is that if you're going to build a new technology or type of experience, how important it is to make sure the first products you ship are really based around the people who are going to use them the most, and in the case of Kinect, they were core gamers and the Xbox fans. While we made a lot of great broad consumer products, I don't think we did enough to deliver really great core experiences with Kinect."

This new restructuring at Microsoft, along with previous moves made by the platform holder (such as dropping the camera from the basic Xbox One SKU), seems to confirm that Kinect will indeed be in the background from here on in.
