Sony has just announced that 1000 people from Sony Mobile in Lund, Sweden, will lose their jobs. This means almost half of the workforce of 2200 is gone.
Globally, Sony Mobile has 8500 emplyees.
This was reported by SVT.se, who also writes that Sony hasn't been able to compete against Apple and Samsung. Sony themselves has previously said that the mobile part of Sony might be axed or sold from the company eventually.
