The Mortal Kombat series is well know for its down right gruesome finishing moves - fatalities - in which beaten opponents are finished off by having their heads cut off, their bodies cut in half, or electrocuted, or crushed or... well, you get the idea.

In the next game, Mortal Kombat X, these moves will be more violent and graphic then ever before, and in addition to that developer Netherrealm Studios is bringing back another variant of finishing moves - brutalities.

Stemming from the console versions of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, the brutalities are similar to fatalities, but the requirements for triggering these bloodbaths are much less forgiving.

For example, a specific brutality may require you to end the match with a throw, or a slick combination of moves. As such the brutalities are there mainly for the core fans; those who appreciate new and more complex ways of totally humiliating their opponents.

The inclusion of the brutalities premiered in a recent livestream with the developers on Twitch, which is obviously available for you to watch again at your leisure.
