The director of the upcoming Warcraft movie has taken to Twitter to stand up for the amount of CGI in modern movies.

"I hear this "CGI in film sucks," mantra again & again. It doesnt. Its a tool like any other. It can be done well & it can be done shit," he stated. "The best CGI has you forgetting its CGI, and accepting the visual as whatever it is supposed to be. Like props. No one has an issue with "props" in film, do they?"

One fan then argued that the audience's immersion is broken by these techniques, but Jones countered: "How often have you said to yourself, "yeah, but Im only hearing his voice because of the boom mic they have off frame!""

This carried on, with the Twitter user referencing the cast's reaction to the entrance through a chest of the titular Alien in Ridley Scott's masterpiece. Jones replied: "why would you think that a director couldn't use the same technique to get the performance & not still enhance the alien?"

The Warcraft movie, which of course is heavy on CGI, is currently in post-production and is set to be released in March, 2016.

Thanks, Polygon.
