If you've played enough Crusader Kings II, chances are you'll have come across the excellent Game of Thrones mod (it's set before the books, so it's pretty much spoiler free).
Given the suitability of the Crusader Kings II setup for a Game of Thrones game, and with the success of the mod, it's no surprise to hear that Paradox Interactive has considered making it a full game.
"The reason we haven't approached HBO is that I'm still on the fence because I'm not sure it's the right route for us to take," Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester told PCGamer during the recent Paradox Convention (more on that event here).
"The mod is great, though," said Wester. "It would make a great franchise for us, it's just that we just need to get over that inner feeling that it's not the right thing to do. It's a lot about creative control."
That said, Wester apparently told the site that Game of Thrones would be the only license he would consider for the strategy-focused studio. Wester also confirmed that Paradox and HBO have already been in contact with regards to the mod, with HBO wary of Paradox monetising the player-created spin-off.
