Driveclub, the PS4-exclusive racer from Evolution Studios, has had a troubled time since it was released last year, with a raft of online issues causing much frustration among gamers, and plenty of embarrassment for both studio and publisher alike.
The game was supposed to launch alongside a free version, whereby players with a PS Plus subscription could access a limited portion of the game. This, however, has yet to happen, and fans who've been waiting patiently to try before they buy, look like they're going to have to wait a while longer.
"We're getting there, but there's still a lot of server development needed to support the PS+ Edition," the studio said in reply to a fan's question on Twitter (that no longer seems to be there, so quotes are via VG247).
With the finishing line still not in sight, it is at least encouraging that the studio are continuing to work towards releasing the free version of the game. Whether that'll be enough remains to be seen, as the feeling among many race fans is that Evolution has left it too late.
