The Star Wars fan site Making Star Wars has posted plenty of rumours and leaks regarding the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront. And they do have a proven track record when it comes to these things, at least when it comes to the movies.
It seems like EA and Dice have "extremely aggressive" DLC plans for the game with plenty of different types of content to purchase and download. Five content packs are supposed to be being made with maps and characters from the films, including the upcoming Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens.
Up to 64 people will be able to play the game online, just as with the Battlefield titles. There will also be massive modes with space to land battles. One of the new things is a killstreak-style reward called "Hero". After collecting enough points, you'll get to play as one of the main characters from the Star Wars universe. They are extremely powerful and have abilities that are not available to the normal characters that you control for most of the matches.
But, according to the report, Dice hasn't forgotten about the single-player part, which is supposedly very long and expansive. The latter will span the whole Star Wars saga, but will mostly be set during the original trilogy. From the last three movies (1-3) we can look forward to a couple of battles from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the space battle above Coruscant from the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. The final stages of the game will act as a prequel for the upcoming movie.
During the story, we'll get to play as both the good guys (Old Republic, Rebellion and Republic), and the not so good guys (the Empire and Separatists).
