Sony Online Entertaiment (Everquest Next, Planetside 2, H1Z1) has been sold off by Sony to Columbus Nova, an investment management firm along with all its assets. SOE is thereby renamed Daybreak Game Company. In a post on Reddit the future plans for the game were revealed.

"This means that effective immediately SOE will operate as an independent game development studio where we will continue to focus on creating exceptional online games for players around the world, and now as a multi-platform gaming company. Yes, that means PlayStation and Xbox, mobile and more!"

How will this affect your gaming then, well Daybreak Game Company tries to reassure any concern gamers with the following sentiments:

"It will be business as usual and all SOE games will continue on their current path of development and operation. In fact, we expect to have even more resources available to us as a result of this acquisition. It also means new exciting developments for our existing IP and games as we can now fully embrace the multi-platform world we are living in."

Will this mean we'll see Planetside 2 appearing on Xbox One in the near future? Maybe. And an on going project like H1Z1 certainly looks like a definite candidate for the new multiplatform approach.

On Twitter CEO John Smedley had a couple of things to say:

"can't wait to make Xbox One games!" and "All of our games are still here and will continue to be :)"

A brand new day breaks... (H1Z1)
