Overwatch was announced by Blizzard during last November's Blizzcon, and it's the first new IP from the studio in many years. However, the team-based shooter may be forced into a name change after it has emerged that Innovis Labs made an earlier trademark application for the Overwatch name, and as such Blizzard has been sent a suspension letter for trademark applications. Blizzard has yet to respond to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and so the suspension has come into effect and will remain in place until this is resolved, either by Innovis retaining or relinquishing their trademark claim, or through negotiation between the companies.
Thanks, Neogaf.
