It sounds like Codemasters are about to make some redundancies, with a number of staff said to be in danger of losing their positions at the studio. An unnamed source close to Eurogamer has suggested that up to 50 positions have been identified, with at least 30 of those set to be cut.

The risk is said to be shared between the studio's IT department in Warwickshire, as well as artists and designers working on Grid and Dirt. A second source suggested that the Formula One team are safe, as are those working on Dirt. It's said that programmers and production staff are also to remain unaffected.

Another interesting fact to emerge from the report surrounds a new Dirt game that may be set to be launched via an Early Access-style release, with the original plan being a launch sometime in February. Apparently there are some ongoing car licensing issues, so that date may be moved back.

"As Codemasters continues its programme of strategic realignment in line with market changes, the company has reviewed its current structures to focus on areas of increased importance and decrease resources in areas where work requirements have been reduced," said a spokesperson.

"As a result of this review, a small number of roles have been proposed as being at risk of redundancy. Those in potentially affected roles are now involved in a consultation period to discuss the proposal. The proposal does not affect the on-going production of titles in development and no projects have been cancelled as a result of the proposal."
