Around 15 years ago, it was still considered a must for every console manufacturer to have a popular mascot. Nintendo had Mario, Sega had Sonic and Sony had Crash Bandicoot (and later Jak & Daxter/Ratchet & Clank), but one year after the release of the Xbox, Microsoft still hadn't realised that Master Chief was Xbox personified and struggled to find a mascot.
Their most hideous creation was Blinx the Cat who manipulated time and used a vacuum cleaner in Blinx: The Time Sweeper. To make a long story short, it ended up as a major disappointment and the Blinx character himself is the epitome of bad design.
If you for completely unimaginably reason still await a new game in the series - we have some bad news for you. The Games Cabin reports that Microsoft now officially has abandoned the brand. And that means we can declare Blinx the Cat officially dead, and the only way to save him would be for someone else to salvage the outdated concept.
Fortunately (?) it's still possible to play Blinx the Cat on the Xbox 360. If you want to experience some embarrassing piece of video game history and feel pure shame in front och your flat HDTV, then find a copy on cheap auction sites like Ebay. Or you could give Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space (2004) a shot... but don't expect it to be any better.
To sum it up - the most remarkable in this story is that Microsoft has kept the brand for such a long time...
