WWE and Warner Bros. Interactive released an announcement about a new wrestling game called WWE Immortals. Although this time it will probably be a bit different from previous games, as the development will be handled by Netherrealms Studios. The creators of Mortal Kombat will handle the development of this title, but the sad news is that it will be released only on mobile platforms.
The Executive Vice President of WWE's Consumer Products Casey Collins was really hyped about the announcement:
"By tapping into NetherRealm's legendary game development studio along with the unparalleled reach of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we are creating a new way for fans to engage with the larger-than-life WWE characters."
It remains to be seen how freely Netherrealms can alter the original wrestler icons. Will we be able to see some really over the top creations, or do they have to follow strictly to their counterparts in real life? And I wonder what kind of arenas there will be?
WWE Immortals will be released on mobile platforms next year, but no specific date was given.
