Feel like you've hear it before? So do we, but for what it's worth former Team Ico boss and game director Fumito Ueda says the long-awaited The Last Guardian is still in development, in what appears to be a new direction.

Although Ueda is no longer employed by Team Ico he is still attached to the project that was originally announced for the Playstation 3 in 2009:

"Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we're making progress under completely new conditions", Ueda told japanese gaming site Dengeki PlayStation (translated by Kotaku).

What these new conditions are remains to be seen, but surely they can no longer be working on PlayStation 3 game? Perhaps its development has been moved somewhere else (Sony Santa Monica have long been rumoured to have a hand in it). We will keep you updated as soon as something more solid on the game surfaces. It's overdue.
