Quick update for everyone enjoying the beta version of Elite: Dangerous to such an extent that your progression matters. For a while there was talk of a complete wipe of everyone's progression when the full version of the game finally launches in a few days time, but now the developers over at Frontier Developments have changed their minds.

It's far from unheard of for game progression from betas to be cleared once the game officially launches, but Elite: Dangerous players will get to keep their hard earned stuff through the progression.

"Hi guys. This is just a quick update to confirm that there won't be a wipe at launch," Community Manager Edward Lewis explains on the Frontier forums.

Hopefully this won't mean that new players will be overwhelmed by seasoned veterans once Elite: Dangerous is out for PC on December 16th, and on Mac early next year.
