According to a report by MCV Nintendo dropped the price of the standard (white 8GB) model of Wii U by as much as £70 for the trade in late October in order to clear stock. The result is that Nintendo's console can now be had for as little as £149.86 without games (Shopto) and in various other bundles including a bunch of £159.99 offers at GAME, and the very tempting Amazon bundle of £199.99 (incl. Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Wii Party U and Nintendoland).

Meanwhile the price of the premium black model remains unchanged, with Nintendo not being seemingly very keen on lowering the price. The slashed price on the standard model could be seen as a move by Nintendo to clear out stock as it is likely looking to discontinue the model.
