It's anniversary time for Star Citizen! Two years ago funding for the Kickstarter campaign finished, of course the $2.1 million attained via Kickstarter is only a fraction of the $62 million in crowdfunding the game has achieved to date. And one year ago marked the end of the original crowdfunding campaign with stretch goals.

Now they are holding an anniversary sale being "a thank you for the tremendous support and dedication all our backers have shown to make this game a reality." Many backers have asked for an opportunity to pick up some of the limited ships offered earlier in the campaign, and this is possible now for prices ranging up to $275 US per virtual space ship. The dev again puts a clear statement, that "purchasing additional ships is not necessary" to play the game at all. "Sales like this are about supporting Star Citizen, about offering additional ways to start the game and about helping us expand the overall vision."

In addition to the limited ships above, Cloud Imperium Games will also be offering limited allotments of a brand new Star Citizen capital ship. Friday, November 28th, will see the launch of the largest capital ship we will make available to players during the pledge campaign: the Javelin destroyer. 200 Javelins will be sold for $2500 US releases in four packs with 50 ships. It "isn't the ultimate battleship for players who can afford it", the dev says. Javelins will be sold stripped of military hardware, and it will be a new starting challenge for players to work together with their organizations to outfit them. The Javelin is concepted for hardcore players who are dedicated to supporting Star Citizen... and the devs are using the opportunity to allow new players to join the game as well. "We're using the assortment of Javelin destroyers to subsidize discount packages for new players: 200 Javelins means we can make 5,000 20-dollar-Aurora-game packages available for sale at the same time."

At this point Star Citizen alpha access includes a Hangar module and a dogfighting module. It should be noted that the Kickstarter campaign did promise the full release this month (November 2014), but these days do anyone really expect Kickstarters to arrive when first promised?
