All versions of the newly released Assassin's Creed: Unity suffers from framerate issues and as far as the PC version in particular is concerned there has been no lack of harsh words from disappointed fans. Luckily Ubisoft seem to be making some progress with addressing the issues, and on the Assassin's Creed blog an update on fixes currently being tested appeared late yesterday.

In summary they are seeking to improve framerate stability by tweaking the following aspects of the game. Here's the rundown:

Streamlining some technical aspects of navigation: We've fixed a number of edge cases with our detection system to smooth certain behaviors during parkour. We've fixed a few objects which were improperly tagged to smooth navigation.

Improving task scheduling: We've tuned the way the computing tasks are prioritized and parallelized by the processor cores to improve framerate in certain edge cases.

Tweaking performance for Reach High Points: We've optimized the reach high points, during the camera swooping sequence to improve framerate a little bit.

No date for the patch has been set yet, but I think we can all agree "the sooner the better" is a good slogan to use here.

Stick to the rooftops, avoid crowds and indoor environments - that's no way to play a game!
