With previous sales data suggesting the Playstation 4 was outselling the Xbox One 3 to 1 at times, it's no surprise that Sony is confident in their lead over rival Microsoft for the time being. In fact, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden suggests the PS4 now is ahead by a margin of 2-1 worldwide.

The gap has been steadily increasing for most of both console's first year, but it's still early days. Because of this Sony have no intention of taking their foot away from the gas pedal:

"It's going to be a very competitive holiday season. Everyone's going to move their numbers the best way they can. We're going to be fully engaged in that battle", Layden told Venture Beat while confirming that the "math seem to point towards a 2:1 lead in sales.

Furthermore Layden did not have a strong counter to the claims that the PS4 has a rather weak first-party lineup this holiday season:

"Obviously LittleBigPlanet is exclusive. We're looking, early in the New Year, at titles like Bloodborne and The Order," he said. "For the holiday season, the greatest games are the greatest games. I certainly understand when publishers wish to get their art in front of as many eyeballs as possible. But I like to think that the games look better and play better on PlayStation 4."
