Catch Monsters is, according to the game's developer Daniel Mullins, a grown-up take on Pokémon, with the focus on providing the player with a deep experience through a 2D open-world RPG adventure. At the heart of it we're promised exploration, card-based combat, and, as the name suggests, we'll be catching monsters. It's on Kickstarter and after $6k CAD, and it's almost halfway to target. If funded it'll be heading to PC, Mac and Linux. There's a particularly interesting hand-drawn visual style, and if you're a retired Pokémon player looking for a more adult take on the formula, you might want to take a look.
