One of the games we covered in our article on the state of Kickstarter published earlier today was Day for Night Games' The Black Glove. It is currently enjoying a modest surge in backer funds over the last few days, while still struggling to reach the momentum needed to achieve the $550,000 target sum (currently at $190,000).
Pitched as "an eerie, surrealistic, first-person game experience by an independent team of developers who helped make BioShock Infinite & BioShock", The Black Glove offers a rather unique experience set in the 1920s.
We asked creative director Joe Fielder about the decision to go on Kickstarter to fund the game:
"We've seen Kickstarter act as an excellent way for new and original games, films, and music to find their market. Also, studios like Fullbright have showed that you can reach your audience without going through publishers, who tend to have their own ideas about the game you're making - understandably since they're footing the bill for it."
Recently the campaign added PS4 and VR support (at the base target sum).
The developers have been very clear that the Kickstarter is the only way this project will happen stating "we've got until this Friday at 4:30 PM EST to fund The Black Glove and keep it from being cancelled". It sounds very dramatic, but if you're interested in seeing this game realised you should consider backing it.
Anyway, here's a link to the Kickstarter.
