On Saturday Nintendo released two new enhanced models of Nintendo 3DS, and alongside them Capcom released Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Both launches where very successful, Famitsu has revealed, with the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL selling exactly 233,483 units between them (New Nintendo 3DS sold 61,200 units and New Nintendo 3DS XL sold 172,300 Units).

Monster Hunter, on the other hand, sold 1.62 million units in just two days, and managed to have the third biggest launch in the history of Nintendo 3DS in Japan (those numbers do not include the downloads made on the eshop, but do include pre-paid download cards and hardware bundles). The most successful launch remains Pokemon X/Y, which remains above second-place Monster Hunter 4.
