Saints Row: The Cooler was a motion-controlled brawler that never made it to retail, according to some new screens that came to light in a recent report by Unseen64.

According to the site, it would've been a Move game on PS3 and a Kinect game on Xbox 360. Although set in the Saints Row universe it was not intended to be an open-world game, more an opportunity to take advantage of the then popular motion devices.

"It was a brawler game," an anonymous dev told Unseen64. "Go to a bar, pick a fight, smash a bottle over someone's head." The aforementioned head-smashing would have involved kicks, punches, and blocks all from a first-person perspective.

"Basically, the Cooler was meant to be a Kinect-based fighting game, similar to The Fight: Lights Out (PS3), but in the Saint's Row universe with lots of fighting matches in about 8 of the Saint's Row locales, plus a few new locations we crafted, and a bar ecosystem where the player could order drinks, get lap dances, gamble, etc."

The report suggests that in 2010, now defunct publisher THQ pulled the plug after half a year of development, and that the team who made the game, Heavy Iron Studios, went on to make that most modern of classics, UFC Personal Trainer: The Ultimate Fitness System.
