Michael Pachter has offered some interesting news that, if true, will be music to the ears Microsoft and their Xbox division. According to the Wedbush Morgan analyst, the Xbox One outsold PlayStation 4 in the U.S. last month.

As reported by Venture Beat, Pachter is predicting that Xbox One sold 325k units last month, while PS4 shifted just 250k.

"We expect Xbox One sales to exceed those of the PS4 for only the second month since launch. From Sept. 7 through [Sept.] 13, Microsoft offered a free game with the purchase of a new Xbox One at participating retailers," Pachter said to investors.

It was a key month for Microsoft, who launched the Madden bundle at the same time as offering the aforementioned free game, with gamers getting the chance to grab a console with both Destiny (if that's what they wanted) and Madden NFL 15, for $50 less than a PS4 with Destiny.

"I kind of think that free Destiny [on Xbox One] was better than [paying] for Destiny on PS4, that's pretty compelling," Pachter concluded.

It's also worth considering the Halo factor, with plenty of Xbox 360 owners holding back until Destiny launched. With Halo: The Master Chief Collection also just around the corner, many core Xbox players may have been waiting for Bungie's latest and 343i's next games to appear before dipping their toes in the new-gen waters.
