Ubisoft today announced that Silent Hunter Online, the latest submarine simulator in the popular series, is currently in development.
The game will be a free-to-play, browser-based multiplayer game, the heart of which is called "the Battle of the Atlantic"; a campaign where individual success impacts other gamers via asynchronous gameplay. For the first time in the series, every mission in the campaign is also available in co-op.
The game is being developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte (in collaboration with Sproing), the studio responsible for series such as the Settlers and Anno, and will feature a large selection of historically accurate submarines for players to choose from.
"This is the most innovative Silent Hunter experience ever created and we can't wait to let our fans dive into the game," said Christopher Schmitz, Head of Production at Ubisoft Blue Byte.
Silent Hunter is about to go into closed beta. If you want to be involved you can visit here.
