Is it too violent a game for the handheld?

Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS has been released in Japan, and it seems to be a lot of fun. In fact, so much fun that it ruins the analog Slide Pad on many peoples Nintendo 3DS units, if Kotaku is to be believed. Both the rubber surface has fallen off and in many cases the plastic part underneath as well.

It remains to be seen if this becomes a widespread problem in the west, or if the Japanese gamers just are a bit more violent when playing video games. Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS will be released October 3rd, and as obvious from the games title it's for Nintendo 3DS.
