According to Oculus, their incoming VR headset is going to cost somewhere in the region of $200 to $400, with the final price set to be dictated by some still undetermined factors.
"We want to stay in that $200-$400 price range," Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell said in a recent interview. "That could slide in either direction depending on scale, pre-orders, the components we end up using, business negotiations."
"Whatever it is, it's going to be as cheap as possible," said the other company co-founder, Palmer Luckey.
Other details revealed as coming in the consumer build of the Oculus Rift (it'll be the third major iteration of the project) were a "significant increase" on the previous model's 1080p display, and a refresh rate from "$75Hz to 90Hz or higher", with Luckey adding that the "jump from [Dev Kit 1] to [Dev Kit 2] is similar to the jump from [Dev Kit 2] to [the initial consumer version]."
