Something smells a bit fishy around here.

Microsoft has poked a bit of fun at the exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision over the incoming shared-world shooter, Destiny. The deal, which sees content landing first on PlayStation platforms, also appears to include advertising.

"Okay, so here's the lowdown. Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter, available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn't have permission to run adverts for the game. So we didn't. Thanks for smelling that something was up. Now get the game and become a legend," said the ad site, which also linked to a series of online retailers who are stocking the game.

The text has actually been pulled down from the site, and for Microsoft to be complaining about exclusivity after the recent Tomb Raider deal comes across as a bit rich. Still, it had us laughing, which was no doubt the intent. Destiny is set to launch on PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 9.
