We just heard the rumour that the upcoming versions of Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL might just not get Nintendo's usual region lock, and we had high hopes that we'd be able to play imported games in the future. Sadly, a representative from Nintendo confirmed to Gamespot that this is not the case. New Nintendo 3DS will not, just like its predecessors, be able to run games from other regions.

New Nintendo 3DS will be released in Japan October 11, and is expected to hit our European stores next year.
