Has The Stomping Land become extinct?

We previewed the Early Access version of The Stomping Land recently (you can read that here), and came to the conclusion that there was much work to be done if the dino-themed survival game was going to live up to its potential. Well, it's looking entirely possible that this potential may never be fulfilled after the game was removed from sale on Steam.

Originally funded via Kickstarter, it has already been on the receiving end of some bad press after the development team seemingly vanished for a period of months. This was later explained by the studio (in a letter sent to Kotaku), who said that the game was still alive, and that it had been moved to Unreal Engine 4.

Of course the change of engine might explain the reason why the game has been removed from sale, but given the previous issues experienced by the game's community, there are many who suspect that The Stomping Land has indeed gone the way of the dinosaur. So much so that players have taken to Steam in search of a refund. Given that this game is both Early Access and Kickstarter backed, it's entirely unlikely that this will happen. We've reached out to SuperCrit for an explanation of the game's withdrawal from sale, and will update you if we hear anything back.
