As some of you might remember, Take-Two did have financial troubles a couple of years ago and it was often reported and rumored about takeovers from other companies. EA was even confirmed as one of the suitors in 2008.

Yesterday Investors.com reported that the Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey says that he thinks that Activision might be interested in buying them. That would make famous series like Bioshock, NBA 2K and of course Grand Theft Auto Activision titles, and they would then have control over the worlds three maybe most important developers - Blizzard, Bungie and Rockstar. Hickey writes:

"For Activision, acquiring Take-Two Interactive would be a no-brainer, in our view, circling some of the strongest development talent and owned IP in the world, within a company that has nearly $1 billion in cash and trades at a comparably lower multiple."

The Take-Two stocks was a a record high during Friday afternoon because of this, but of course, nothing is official or settled and Hickey might be completely wrong. But still, if there is one company that really would have the resources and have a great matching portfolio of titles themselves, it really is Activision.
