With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 smashing all kinds of records and continuing to top charts it seems obvious a third entry in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will hit the market in 2011 (Treyarch are rumoured to be developing a Vietnam based Call of Duty for 2010). But have developers Infinity Ward opted to jump ship for something completely different? According to VG247 the developer is working on something "completely new" and other rumours have pointed to Infinity Ward being involved with some kind of MMO project (a Call of Duty MMO has been rumoured as well).
VG247's sources point to a Vancouver based developer making the inevitable Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. With Activision owned Radical Entertainment residing in said Canadian city they are a likely suspect after wrapping up Prototype this summer, Activision also have relations with Vancouver based United Front Games who are making the new True Crime. Other sources have pointed to newly founded Activision studio Sledgehammer Games being involved with the Call of Duty series.
There are a lot of rumours, but don't expect to hear anything official on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 until early in 2011.
