After the announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider would become an exclusive title for the Xbox consoles, the Xbox boss Phil Spencer took to Twitter to clarify that the deal is somewhat similar to the ones they had with Capcom and Dead Rising 3. A game that was released for PC six months after it was launched on Xbox One.
Now he has told Kotaku more about how Microsoft will be involved in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and it turns out they are working with it in many ways, amongst them by funding the development.
"We will clearly spend money on marketing the game, there's no doubt about that. And we do [that] on games where we have very little to do with development, and with games that we fully develop. And we will definitely be spending money on developing the game - I want to make sure that it's as great as it can be."
