There'll be fast-track microtransactions appearing in Assassin's Creed: Unity, according to senior producer Vincent Pontbriand.

When asked if accelerating progress was the limit to their influence, the producer only said "pretty much" - which doesn't sound as conclusive as we'd like, but at least gives us hope that it won't be a major issue.

"Companion apps, monetisation, other business models, digital only... We have to be reactive to these things, but not necessarily fundamentally change what we're trying to do."

Pontibriand also told Total Xbox that they're only bringing in microtransactions if it works with the game in question. They obviously feel that they will work in Unity:

"It depends. If we think it fits the gameplay, or the brand itself, the core values, we're willing to take those risks. If not, then not. We're not going to make any compromises."
