Nintendo have been enjoying an almost uncanny streak of good fortune, even if 2009 did not reach the record levels of 2008 in all areas. What they did manage to do was sell 3 million units of Wii in the US during December, up from 2.15 million in December of 2008, and the Nintendo DS platform (all models) also set a new calender record for units sold. Furthermore, New Super Mario Bros. Wii that launched in November (and sold 1.39 million) has now sold close to 4 million in the United States alone according to Nintendo's own estimates. If true it makes New Super Mario Bros. Wii the likely December number one as the NPD numbers for December hit January 14.
