Sony have announced plans to bring the struggling giant back to profitability. The plan dubbed as the "One Sony" plan, calls for some rather drastic measures as six per cent of work force will be given pink slips. They have identified three areas they feel are core to their business, digital imaging, game and mobile, and this is where they will concentrate over the next few years.

In an effort to restructure their business 10,000 jobs will be cut from Sony Group, and while some of those jobs will end up in external companies and subsidiaries after the restructure, big changes are ahead.

As far as gaming goes, Sony has plans to "increase sales by enriching its catalog of downloadable game titles and subscription services available through the PSN platform, and also by expanding the lineup of PlayStation Suite compatible devices and content".

Kaz Hirai has a lot of work in front of him in order to turn Sony around.
