The original Playstation was launch on December 3, 1994 in Japan and went on to sell more than 125 million units worldwide. In launched in September 1995 in both Europe and North America and swept the gaming world of its feet. It was surpassed in terms of sales by its successor Playstation 2 (138 million units), but stands as one of the most significant consoles ever released.
