President of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley revealed in a recent interview that SOE is thinking on making its upcoming MMO games, namely The Agency and DC Universe Online, subscription-free. Instead, these cross-platform (PC and PS3) games might be funded with microtransactions.

According to Smedley, SOE had tested microtransactions in EverQuest and EQ2, where the transactions were handled "in a way that wasn't harmful to gameplay and [they] actually gave [players] a benefit".

Smedley also said that all future SOE MMOs will be released on consoles. Recently, Smedley also revealed that SOE are thinking of making PSP MMOs.
