Just hours after the announcement that GAME had gone into administration and that CEO Ian Shepherd had left his position at the company, stores across the country are beginning to close.
Unprofitable stores from both the GAME and Gamestation brands have already been contacted, with store managers given instructions to empty shop floors, cash up and go home.
According to initial reports there are already high profile casualties, with Gamestation's flagship store in Birmingham closing down.
It will likely be a few days before we know the true extent of the closures, but whatever happens, it looks likely that thousands of staff will lose their jobs in coming days.
