According to producer Takashi Tezuka, the upcoming Wii U title Mario Maker will not feature any multiplayer component. Instead the team at Nintendo have chosen to focus on making the actual building of levels as intuitive as possible.
"I would like to use other characters, but as far as multiplayer goes, I'm pretty set on probably not. What's important about this game is the creation part, and we really want to focus on that", Tezuka commented in an extensive interview with Nzgamer.
Mario Maker was annonced at E3 this year, and the object of the game is to let players build their own levels within the Super Mario Universe. Once completed you get to play it, and you can choose between the old school 8-bit graphics from the golden days, or modern textures using New Super Mario Bros. U templates. In adition, Tezuka and his team are considering adding other skins to the game, after release some time next year.
