Talking and, more often than you'd think, screaming in front of a camera whilst playing games, can be a more lucrative deal than most normal jobs. At least if you have made a name for yourself like Swede Felix Kjellberg.
With the nickname "PewDiePie", Kjellberg has been entertaining people on Youtube for a few years now, and lately sponsorship deals and YouTube's own ad program (granting popular uploaders a part of the income) have made him a very rich man. In fact, last year alone PewDiePie earned an astonishing £2.48 million!
How is such popularity possible? By connecting with the fans on a more personal level, apparently:
"Unlike many professionally produced shows, I think I've established a much closer contact with my viewers, breaking the wall between the viewer and what's behind the screen," Kjellberg told The Wall Street Journal.
"What I and other YouTubers do is a very different thing, it's almost like hanging around and watching your pal play games. My fans care in a different way about what they are watching."
Do you have what it takes to match PewDiePie and his nearly 30 million subscribers?
