Generic Aiden to get dropped for Watch Dogs 2?

It might have sold by the bucketload, but that hasn't stopped some people complaining that lead character Aiden Pierce is too bland and generic.

"We knew it would be polarising; some people loved the characters and some didn't. It was difficult to please everybody with that character," Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot told <a href"http://www.computerandvideogames.com/468687/interviews/an-audience-with-ubisoft-ceo-yves-guillemot/">CVG</a> in a recent interview.

"Now, having seen the reaction, we know what we will do next to improve that," he added. When asked whether Aiden would return for the inevitable sequel, he said: "I can't say because I don't know actually. We'll see."

When the subject of the "angry white man" archetypes that feature heavily in Ubisoft's game was mentioned, Guillemot acknowledged it as an issue, saying: "We are working on that. We want to spend more time on the worlds and characters in our games."

"You will see more and more of this at Ubisoft. We'll try to be less like we have been in the past with some characters. We'll try to extend more diversity."

Let's hope that's the case, because there's a worrying lack of diversity when it comes to the lead characters of Triple-A games. It'd be a great move by Ubisoft to be at the forefront of that transition, bringing different voices and characters to their blockbuster games.
