An interview with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed Star Fox for Wii U, ahead of Nintendo's Digital Event. News came via a feature in Time Magazine, which reveals a few details that are no doubt going to be confirmed in just over an hour when Nintendo takes their turn at this year's E3.
The interview reveals some interesting details, such as controls beind based around the tilt functionality of the Wii U GamePad. Once again the Arwing fighter will be able to transform into the Landmaster tank, and there's a new vehicle coming - a co-op controlled helicopter.
We're also likely to hear about two experimental new IPs from Miyamoto. Project Giant Robot will feature huge robots, again through moving the GamePad, with the first-person view on the second screen and the television revealing a more expansive perspective.
The other is Project Guard, which is a tower defence game where the player will apparently switch between armed security cameras.
"We originally began working with Star Fox back on Wii, and we had a small group of people experimenting with it for many years, maybe about six years," Miyamoto said. "But we didn't find an idea that really brought that together for the Wii. So instead we moved experimentation to the Wii U using some of the same assets. It's been maybe 6 to 10 months that we've been experimenting with it."
