The UK's games and interactive entertainment trade body, UKIE, has today published the Access to Finance paper. The pre-budget submission to the Government outlines ways in which the UK industry can be better supported to: "help to give it the level playing field that it needs to grow in the UK."
The paper can be viewed here, but the highlights are as follows:
"Improve the UK's current regulatory environment to allow investors, content producers and crowd funding platforms to take maximum advantage of crowd funding.
UKIE continues to call on the government to introduce a tax break for video games development.
Change the rules governing the use of Venture Capital Trusts and Enterprise Investment Schemes.
Link tax benefits to skills, possibly by linking to apprenticeships.
Support the development of a new Computer Science and Information and Communications Technology teaching infrastructure."
UKIE has been incredibly pro-active in trying to build on recent progress made between government and the industry. They'll be hoping that these recommendations are implemented soon, as they look to further strengthen the position of UK developers.
